As they climbed further up towards the top of the mountain the original set of humans peeled off as they were greeted by their own dragons. Slowly the group thinned out, leaving just those who'd just arrived, Stoick and Gobber. Though Gobber was next to leave. Hopping on Grump and flying to the front of the line to inform Hiccup of his leaving. The humans watched as Gobber was swallowed up by the still swirling dragons. The further they went up and the more the dragons settled, the humans were finally able to see just how large the inside of the mountain was. They hadn't had a chance to survey the place fully yet but now they could see all the way downn. Even below where they had entered. “Hiccup, how much further?” a voice in the crowd asked. “Don’t worry we’ll be there soon. This isn’t the best way to get around I know but once you have your own dragon, they’ll help you get around.” “Fat chance that’s going to happen.” Astrid huffed. “Well Astrid you can feel free to climb
“What do you mean? Why not just sail the damn thing in there? Surely one of these stupid things could just guide us or something.” Astrid put her hands on her hips. Hiccup looked at her confused. “Where's the fun in that?” Hiccup asked. “I'm not here for fun, Hiccup.” Astrid scowled. “Firstly, if you keep doing that with your face you're gonna get wrinkles. Secondly, what's life without a little fun? Lastly… uh, I don't actually have anything else. Let's get this boat in the air.” Hiccup turned around and started to direct the dragons again as he walked to the front of the ship. “I'd hang on to something.” Hiccup yelled. The humans who were new found places they could cling onto. Wondering if they were in danger. On the other hand, the humans who'd been there just stood and waited. They all heard Hiccup shout something and moments later the ropes all snapped against the ship in unison. The wood groaned as the flapping of wings grew loud. And then they were gently swinging.
Hiccup mounted up onto Toothless’ back. “Ready bud?” He said into the dragon’s ear. “I cannot believe that this is actually working.” Toothless complained. “If I didn’t already know that the gods weren’t helping you I’d have my suspicion that they were. But it seems your luck outweighs any help they could give you.” Toothless lifted off and began to travel towards the ship. “You act as though you don’t want this to happen.” Hiccup pointed out. “You’d be wrong about that. But I am wholeheartedly still somehow surprised that you constantly pull off the impossible.” “What can I say? I’m a natural.” Hiccup chuckled. “Whatever you are, I’m glad I’m on this side of it.” Toothless pulled in his wings and dove down and Hiccup tucked in close. As the pair neared the water Toothless splayed out his wings. The membranes made a snapping sound as they took in air and took them out of the dive. Toothless’ belly hovered just over the water. Enough that his claws would occasionally catch the
“Dragons don’t talk Stoick. That’s insane.” Astrid challenged again. “What do they say?” Fishlegs asked sheepishly. “All kinds of things, kid.” Stoick paused. “They’re like us, I guess. Talk about all sorts of things.” “And you understand them?” “Not a single word. But I don’t have to. They’re not so interested in talking to me or the other handful of humans on top of that mountain. But they sure do talk to Hiccup. Boy can’t go more than a deep breath before someone is asking him about something. Kid’s got it worse than I do.” “So what do we do?” Spitelout asked. Looking for answers from someone. “We attack them, of course.” Astrid shouted and raised her axe in the air. “And what’s that going to do? And how? You still have to navigate through that fog, Which has never been done. And that’s if you even make it that far. Cause if you move any closer they’re going to attack, and suddenly all five of these ships are going to be under siege from all angles. Then if by some
“He'll be fine.” Hiccup looked through his monocular again at the set of ships. “I'm not worried about him, kid.” Gobber stated. At the ships Black and Blue moved slowly, and hid themselves, along with Stoick close to the ship’s hull so as not to be spotted. Slowly Stoick unpacked the bag Hiccup had set up and pulled out his clothes. Putting his shirt on, Stoick hoped that the dragon under him wouldn’t randomly dive under the water. Luckily for him, he was able to guide his mount to the rope ladder on the side without getting noticed. He did his best to get his pants on but ultimately had to climb the ladder with his pants half down and bag in his mouth. When stoick reached the top deck he pulled his pants up and people began to surround him. They called to him and to the other ships telling them that Stoick magically showed up. Hiccup looked for his father again but couldn’t find him. He looked around for any sign of them but nothing. “I lost them.” Hiccup murmured to himself.

Stoick took the device in his hands and looked it over. “Is this even safe to hold?” Stoick raised an eyebrow. Hiccup shrugged. “I mean? Probably not the most dangerous thing you've ever held.” “You're right about that, I've held your mother's cooking.” Hiccup thought he was joking and gave his dad a second to break and chuckle but it didn't happen. “That bad?” Hiccup worried to asked. “Not all the time but on bad days it would have been easier to eat rocks.” “Well okay then.” Hiccup turned away and faced Skullcrusher “Take him down to the beach. Black and Blue should be waiting and we'll join you shortly after, I gotta grab something.” Hiccup climbed onto Toothless. “Skullcrusher is going to take you to Black and Blue. We'll see you there.” Hiccup leaned down to Toothless’ ear. “Take us to the nest would ya? There's something else I need to give my dad.” Both pairs dispersed and regrouped minutes later. As Toothless and Hiccup landed, Hiccup gave Stoick a leather bag.
The pair were happily dealing away until a gruff voice started to call out to Hiccup. They ignored the voice as much as they could until it was so close it could touch Hiccup. “Son?” Stoick shook Hiccup’s leg. “It's time to get up. Those ships are in sight and the dragons are starting to panic.” He shook Hiccup's leg again. Hiccup opened his eyes and sighed. “They couldn't have given us a bit more time? The sun's not even shining through the holes in the rock yet.” Hiccup complained. “Well son I don’t think they care much whether or not the sun’s out. Or if you’re ready.” “That’s very inconsiderate of them.” Hiccup sat up and stretched. After a brief pause he stood up and shook Toothless awake fully. “Come on big guy, you too.” Toothless yawned and smacked his lips. “Fine.” The dragon sighed. Hiccup moved over to the little table he’d placed the new device that he’d made and grabbed it. “Let’s head up top and see what’s going on.” Hiccup climbed onto Toothless’ back. “Meet you
Toothless and Hiccup ducked into the workshop, with Hiccup immediately setting to work deconstructing one of his sword prototypes. "You know, I'm surprised people don't think we know just about everything that goes on here." Toothless said, sitting across from Hiccup watching him fiddle with the sword's mechanisms. "We run this place of course, we noticed." "You can't blame them." Hiccup didn't bother to look up. "There's a lot of people here and a lot of them are looking for something. Mates, power. Whatever else. Maybe they think that since we can't talk to every single one of them that we don't know stuff about them." Hiccup walked away for a second to grab a few things and returned with a handful of tools and containers. “Not that we can help it. So much is going on right now. Maybe when things go back to normal we’ll get back around to getting to know everyone individually.” Toothless laid his head down on the table. “So you think this thing’s gonna help your dad?” “I.”
The group of humans stayed for a bit longer. Washing up and as requested washing their clothes after some grumbling from the humans. But eventually the heat became too much and the group left. Damp clothes in hand the humans mounted up on their dragons and were brought back to the top of the mountain. Toothless and Hiccup retired to their nest for the night. “You worried about tomorrow?” Toothless asked as Hiccup settled down for the night. “I don’t know.” Hiccup leaned back against Toothless. “I think as long as my dad makes it to the ship it’ll be fine. I just don’t want Black and Blue getting hurt. There’s already so much going on without someone getting super injured. Or dying for that matter.” “They’ll be fine, Hiccup. While they may not be the most in tune Seashocker I’ve ever met. When they do agree on something or are given orders, they’re the best around.” “I know. But it’s just another thing to add to the pile of problems we already have.” “At least we’re able to solve
"It would be rather ideal that you two weren't shot at all this time around. I'd like to have as few of us indisposed as possible right now. Just in case." "So just don't get shot." "That sounds easy." "Ideal even." The pair of heads agreed. "Ideal yes, easy, we'll see. What you two have to do is bring my dad to those ships. Preferably without being seen. And depending on whether or not they bothered to bring the rope ladders up off the side, you may have to jump up so that he can get onto the deck." "So you don't want us to get shot but hey you might have to get stabbed cause you might get stuck on a human ship?" The Seashocker asked. "Well no, I didn't mean for you guys to jump onto the deck. I meant like you'd jump out of the water and he'd jump off you." Hiccup explained. "I guess that makes more sense." "Yeah." "Alright then what's the plan?" "Yeah, how we gonna do this?" "Basically my dad is going to ride you guys up to the ships. That's the easy part. The hard part is

I was looking through my gallery and realized that somehow I never posted the first chapter of The Last Living Dragon. Like holy shit it's the whole back bone for the rest of the story. I feel so dumb for not posting it. So it'll be up this weekend.

Black with red swirls
A broken man once told me to look with my heart
He told me that he’d lost the ability to
I chuckled to myself softly
Though when I tried I came to a sad conclusion
I too had lost the the ability to look with my heart
I tried with all my might but I couldn’t
I sat in front of the broken man and gave him a hard stare
I noted his dishevelled hair and beard
Veins bulging from his hands unhealthily
Sodden, glassed over eyes, that wanted to be young again
Teeth uneven and chipped
It wasn’t all sad though, he was smiling
At me
I challenged his laughing at me
He laughed at me again
He stood
Put his hand in his pocket and pulled

Years Ago: Caught pt. 3
Once Hiccup was finished with her trap she stood slowly. She stretched her wings out. They almost touched either wall in the cell. Hiccup was in awe. He knew how big she was but seeing it inside the pretty large room helped him understand better. He wondered if Toothless would get as big as her if not bigger. She curled her wings back in while walking to a corner of the room. She laid down in a more comfortable position, and watched the two boys like before.
Toothless nuzzled up under Hiccup's hand. Since Toothless was out of his restraints Hiccup finally had a real chance to look at him. He noticed how much larger he'd gotten. A few years a
